The UP School of Library and Information Science experiences dripping water from the ceilings everytime it rains. Until on June 12, 2008 at around 5 o’clock pm, some parts of the ceiling were seriously ripped off because of heavy rain. Due to this, the uninterru ptible power supply, automatic voltage regulator and some computers on the laboratories got showered and burned. Ceiling in the women’s restroom were about to fall with the water almost showering the whole cr. Another dripping water was along the lobby. Good thing, the SLIS community united to evacuate and save the equipments.
Located at the 3rd floor of Gonzalez Hall at the UP Main Library, the SLIS has been advocating for a new building prior to this incident. http://upslis.info/news.php?cat.2
The SLIS badly needs a new building to have a safer place for the equipments and for SLIS’s growing population.
